- Language Focus: Choose the best word to complete each sentence based on a salient grammatical structure from the reading
- Picture Story: Number the given pictures in the correct order according to the story, and then discuss each picture with a partner
- Act Out the Story: Fill in the blanks to complete a roleplay between the characters from the reading
- Summary: A paraphrased summary of the story, with an opportunity to re-order the sentences, or fill in the gaps, or replace incorrect information
- Expansion Questions: Opportunity to discuss further questions related to the reading theme using picture prompts and guided questions
